The Atlanta, Georgia-based Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) has added Michael J. Romano as senior associate dean for clinical affairs and Chief Medical Officer at Morehouse Healthcare (MHC), and Walter Royal as director of the MSM neuroscience institute. Most recently, Romano was associate dean for clinical affairs at the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center; he has worked in military medicine, private practice, and traditional academic positions. Royal was most recently a professor of neurology, anatomy, and neurobiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and has been a staff neurologist at the Baltimore Veterans Administration Hospital.

 

PatientPoint of Cincinnati, Ohio has named David Guthrie its chief product officer. An innovator, strategist, entrepreneur, and investor in technology and life sciences, Guthrie co-founded WebMD’s Medcast physician news and information service, and was its CTO. Guthrie has also been CTO and a board member at PGi.

 

The Alexandria, Virginia-based Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) Foundation added Susan Shiff and Mary C. Young to its board of trustees. Shiff is SVP and head of the Center for Observational and Real-World Evidence at Merck & Co, Inc. Young is VP of National Accounts at Cigna. Lynn Franzoi, President at LLF Consulting, LLC and Newell McElwee, VP of Health Economics and Outcomes Research at Boehringer-Ingelheim, concluded their service on the board.

AMN Healthcare Services, Inc. of San Diego, California named Mark Hagan as its CIO. Hagan joins AMN from Envision Healthcare, where has been CIO and SVP of IT since 2003, overseeing nearly 900 team members.

 

Delphi Behavioral Health Group of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, added Richard W. Rodgers to its board of directors. Rodgers is president of Fluent Investments, and was previously CFO and COO at Foundations Recovery Network. He holds a bachelor’s degree in corporate finance from the University of Alabama and an MBA from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

 

Ohio Medical of Gurnee, Illinois promoted SVP of global sales Anthony Wieczorek to company president. Wieczorek was formerly a GM at Leica Microsystems before joining Ohio Medical.

 

Intarcia Therapeutics Inc. of Boston, Massachusetts named Thane Wettig its Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and Metabolic Franchise Head. Wettig was recently CMO for Lilly Diabetes, and began his career at Eli Lilly as a primary care sales representative.

 

The Atlanta, Georgia-based Swan Center for Plastic Surgery has added board-certified plastic surgeon Cristen Catignani. Catignani earned her doctor of medicine from the University of Tennessee, and completed her general surgery and plastic surgery residency training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

 

SGI-DNA of San Diego, California has added Todd R. Nelson as its CEO during the company’s spinoff from Synthetic Genomics, Inc. Nelson has worked for eBioscience, MP Biomedicals, and DiscoverX Corporation. He is the founder of Tonbo Biosciences and TCRx Corporation.
